The term “Rudraksha” has been derived from the combination of the two Sanskrit words, Rudra meaning “Lord Shiva” and aksha meaning tears. The large bead represents the teacher or teachings, and is called the Meru bead, named after the mystical mountain named Meru. Based on the Vedic and Hindu scriptures, the mystical powers of the Rudraksha beads are said to bring the wearer health, happiness, and sucess and to facilitate meditation.
